More small quakes rattle Monterey County

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake rattled Monterey County again on Tuesday after a swarm of tremors shook the area Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake hit at 5:23 p.m. about 13.6 miles northeast of Gonzales at a depth of 3.3 miles. It was felt in Hollister, Soledad and Monterey. Just prior, at 5:15 p.m., a 3.3 earthquake struck about a half-mile away at a depth of 2.6 miles. In total, six earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or higher struck within a few miles of each other on Tuesday. The quakes occurred along the San Andreas fault. There were no reported injuries or damages.
