Houston historic preservationist dies at 74

Bart Truxillo, an advocate for historic preservation and a founder of Preservation Houston, died April 19. He was 74. Truxillo graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in architecture before he embarked on a career of preservation, according to the Houston Chronicle. He bought the 1910 Magnolia Brewery Building at 715 Franklin St. near Market Square Park in 1968 and later renovated the property.
