The University of Texas at Austin athletics program is in the black in a big way. The Longhorns brought in $188 million in revenue for the 2015-16 academic year and generated a $6.5 million surplus. That compares to a $458,367 surplus in 2014-15 and a $2.8 million deficit the year before that. The UT athletics department, which is one of the most lucrative in the nation, also gave $10 million to academics, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
