Crews responding to a reported gas leak explosion in South Los Angeles’ Florence neighborhood arrived to “heavy fire coming from storm drains,” the L.A. Fire Department said Sunday. The incident was reported around 7:45 a.m. in the area of 216 W. Slauson Ave. “Man hole cover(s) have been displaced due to underground pressure,” the Fire Department said in a statement. “Multiple patients reported with unknown injuries.” It’s unclear if flames have spread to surrounding structures, the agency said.
