10 schoolchildren in SF hospitalized after ingesting unknown substance

At least 10 San Francisco students were sickened Tuesday afternoon by an unknown substance at a local middle school, officials said. Police and firefighters are on scene addressing a medical emergency at James Lick Middle School, located on 1220 Noe St. A couple of students first reported feeling ill to a school nurse about 1:20 p.m., said Gentle Blythe, a San Francisco Unified School District spokeswoman. “At this time it appears as though some students have ingested a substance that is causing adverse reactions,” Laura Dudnick, a school district spokeswoman, wrote in an email.
