Man trapped under BART train closes North Berkeley station

A man apparently jumped in front of a train at the North Berkeley BART station Sunday, causing operators to close the station. “The Berkeley Fire Department has rescued (the) patron, who is conscious and alert,” a BART statement said. “We hope to have the station reopened shortly.” BART did not release additional details about the man’s injuries. According to the local news website Berkeleyside, a Richmond train was pulling into the station at about 11:45 a.m. when a man jumped into its path.
