Marin County to pay to solve shutdown-induced poop crisis at Point Reyes

The government shutdown and consequent lack of funding for the National Park Service has created a bit of a fecal crisis at Point Reyes, and at a loss for alternatives, Marin County officials are now preparing to dip into the county's own coffers to clean up the mess — at least for the next few weeks. In the absence of functioning bathrooms at the Bear Valley Visitor Center, people have been straining the nearby county-managed restrooms and turning to the park itself as an alternative toilet, Marin County Parks Director Max Korten told the Marin Independent Journal.
