A call made to Palo Alto police by a man who said he killed his wife and had tied up their children set off a huge response by law enforcement officers who later realized it was a hoax. Police dispatchers received the call at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday by a caller who impersonated a resident of the 900 block of Emerson Street, saying he had just shot his wife inside the home and had his children tied up.
