San Francisco-based augmented reality gaming company Niantic has snagged $190 million in funding, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Niantic is the company behind Pokémon Go, which was released in July 2016 and became an international sensation. It was founded in 2010 as a project at Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and was spun out as an independent company in 2015.
