Digital First Media wins auction for Boston Herald with $12M bid

Digital First Media emerged Tuesday evening as the winner of an auction to buy the bankrupt Boston Herald, with a bid that more than doubles what GateHouse Media put forward in the initial offer for the news outlet. The Colorado-based company bid $11.98 million for the Herald, according to a spokeswoman for the newspaper’s law firm, Brown Rudnick.
