A pair of Austin business people were sentenced Tuesday to more than six years in prison for orchestrating a Ponzi scheme that paid for a luxurious lifestyle brimming with expensive cars and world travel. U.S. Judge Lee Yeakel sentenced Allen Helms and Janniece Kaelin to 78 months behind bars for ripping off oil and gas investors from January 2009 to December 2013 through their firm, Vendetta Royal Properties, the Austin American-Statesman reports.
